I’ve been hoping that someone was keeping a running tally of Trump’s offenses against the law and the Constitution. It will come in handy when he is removed from office and prosecutions are at hand. If not domestically, surely in the International Criminal Court. Despite his immunity, he still must face accountability in history. We have our work cut out for us, to take back our power from so low a man.

The Constitution should be in everyone’s DNA and that it apparently isn’t represents a gross failure of the American system of education. The evidence that that’s the case is manifest from the multitude of Members of Congress, members of the SCOTUS majority, and the throngs of J-6 rioters who had or have a formal education that should’ve been adequate to enable them all to know the terms of the Constitution and how their actions are a breach thereof.

Tell me why this man is not on our Supreme Court?

What a difference it would have made from some of the inferior Judges making decisions about our whole country. Something is definitely wrong with their scholarship and judgement.

Hear hear to Star Aasved’s comment, that Judge Luttig indeed carries the mantle of We the People, to declare the truth.

To first read the words of Alexander Hamilton, and then move onto the 26 grievances, perfectly articulated and all authentic, < unfortunately > real, irrefutable….

I’ve been enjoying HAMILTON the musical on the big screen which debuted 9/5 in our area. There are extra portions of video, featuring Lin-Manuel Miranda and cast members, designed specifically for the theater audience.

The entire experience is spectacular, and you’re so close, you’re right there on stage so that you can catch every single word, not easy to do when in the audience for the stage production… Unless of course you have the entire play memorized.

(A person can come to see this movie with no preparation whatsoever and while it may be a bit overwhelming, they can get it the first time around, like any movie and then they may come back for more… Whereas with the stage production, often people remarked that they had to do some prep, to be acquainted not just with the music, but mainly the words because it’s so rapid fire in real time.

Obviously, the themes of the entire production mesh inextricably with the theme of this post here today.

One of my purposes in seeing HAMILTON the Movie several times was because our family has some history with it… my husband who has passed, the grandson we raised (were his legal guardians), now 19… And I find that the music becomes a soundtrack in my head ongoing during the day, and when I wake up, giving me such a feeling of uplift and screening out some of the noise from the world, and also from family strife which comes and goes, but is always waiting in the wings, if not in your face, was the reason for the guardianship of the grandson.

I can tell you right now which song is playing in my head… 🎶Take a Break. Earlier today it was (…wait for it…. drumroll …): “Wait for It!”

(couldn’t resist… I live in a third grade bubble… You know, third grade jokes? They’re the best!)

And experiencing the diversity of the gifted cast is just beautiful to witness, to revel in, to interface with who We the People of this nation are!

The run of the movie ends this next Wednesday at our closest theater, but whatever is going on with it in your area… Don’t miss it!

I wonder if Judge Luttig has seen it…. And then, as he leaves the theater of the musical or the movie, there’s a slight spring in his step, a hint of a smile, and you realize there’s a little rap running through his head. Maybe not far-fetched?

I haven’t seen the movie, Katherine, but I have seen the play several times. And yes, not far-fetched at all! There was indeed a spring in my step, a hint of a smile, and, yes, even a little rap running through my head!

This very evening, the National Constitution Center in Philadelphia is awarding the Liberty Medal to the play Hamilton and to Hamilton biographer Ron Chernow! Tune in!

Thank you for enumerating the grievances that we are suffering, for helping us stay crystal clear on what has now unfolded before us.

“Let the Constitution “become the political religion of the nation,” Lincoln sermonized with the reverence he beseeched.”

Exactly, and memorize the Constitution’s Preamble before it’s erased for the Library of Congress website!

The loss of our Country and all it stood for, for all these years, I am brought to tears. Judge Luttig’s sobering and excellent prose should be broadcast everywhere. I will reread this many times, hoping there will be a rebuilding of the America we’ve given up for these traitorous people of the Regime. I am devastated.

Judge Luttig, what do you think of economic leverage? The gutting of democratic institutions - such as Congress refusal to oppose the President’s encroachment on its Article I powers - leads me to ask if it is time for economic boycotts, strikes, and other actions that can counter the destruction of our democracy. Chris Armitage on Substack has a couple of columns that touch on this.
