Of course people tune out, the courts tell people they have no standing in court, politicians spam them every 3 minutes with emergency campaign donation pleas, and the main stream democrats pile on top of any progressives that gain any traction and spend that money on smearing them, it doesn't feel like the public is much wanted in meaningful participation, including on substack - when's the last time you've interviewed someone that hasn't been on MSNBC? I got told by a judge in court that my redress is my vote. I mean, the system is high on its own hubris; it can't lock people out so thoroughly and expect them to engage in positive ways. They're already squeezed financially, and even democrats want them to participate by donating, and then they use those funds to trash their preferred candidates.. it's like, no thanks after a while. We share your concern, but I think we're all pretty tired of being told we can either scream in the streets like animals or send money.

Defend Democracy are now quaint words. We need a few key words that are MUCH MORE EDGY. Steve you should run for Prez. You speak slowly ( unlike typical “ politicians”) and use different words.
